SLAYER Flame Breathing

Learn the documented SLAYER Flame Breathing moves, their launch, fire, knockback and guardbreak roles, and a safe practice order.

Flame Breathing is documented as a Legendary SLAYER style with five current moves: Blazing Universe, Unknowing Fire, Rising Scorching Sun, Blooming Flame Undulation and Flame Tiger. The moveset combines burning pressure, forward movement, an air launcher, knockback and a hyper-armored guardbreak.

Flame moveset

Blazing Universe

An overhead slash documented to set the enemy on fire. Use it as a compact committed hit, then watch recovery before extending.

Unknowing Fire

Four forward-moving slashes that apply fire and additional damage over time. Confirm the first contact so movement does not carry you past a target.

Rising Scorching Sun

Two upward slashes that launch both players into an air combo and apply fire. Treat it as a route starter, not a safe neutral button.

Blooming Flame Undulation

Three spinning slashes with movement, ending in knockback and fire. Decide whether the space is an ender or a chance to chase.

Flame Tiger

A large hyper-armored swing documented to guardbreak, knock away and ignite. Missing a committed guardbreak can still be punishable.

The card describes roles, not fixed damage, cooldowns or guaranteed combos. Check the current skill tree and live behavior before treating any link as true on every server.

Unlock and equip correctly

Raise Breathing Level by using unlocked style moves and completing Slayer hideout training. At documented multiples of five, use the gourd limit-break minigame before further level gain. A move can be visible but still locked behind that progression.

Equip a Nichirin Katana. A public-test walkthrough observed Rising Scorching Sun refusing to activate with the wooden starter blade and directing the player to the Blacksmith. Complete Final Selection, take the ore to Ivory Passage, forge the blade, and verify it appears in the loadout.

Practice order

Start with Blazing Universe to learn basic range and recovery. Add Unknowing Fire on a target that is already committed so the forward movement does not whiff. Practice Rising Scorching Sun only after you can confirm a grounded opening, then use the airborne state to learn your follow-up timing.

Use Blooming Flame Undulation as a deliberate knockback tool. If the final hit sends the opponent away, do not queue a short-range move that cannot reach. Test Flame Tiger last because guardbreak and hyper armor encourage overcommitment when you do not yet understand the opponent’s escape.

Build a reliable route

A conservative route is confirm, launch, one aerial follow-up, then reset. A pressure route uses a forward-moving skill only after the opponent is locked into recovery. A block-punish route saves Flame Tiger for a visible guard rather than throwing it at neutral.

Burning is a documented effect, but do not assume every burning target takes the same extra damage or that fire stacks. If a style perk mentions burning, test the base move and perk separately so their contribution is clear.

Resource and spacing decisions

Breathing moves use a refillable bar in the current public build. Keep enough resource to finish a confirmed sequence or disengage. Refilling with E on PC can expose you, so create distance or use a safe pause rather than breathing in an opponent’s reach.

Forward-moving skills can fix range and also create camera problems near walls. Test the route in open space, then against a corner. If Unknowing Fire or Blooming Flame crosses the target, shorten the starter or change the angle.

Common mistakes

  • Trying a form with the wooden blade instead of a forged Nichirin.
  • Using Rising Scorching Sun without confirming the grounded hit.
  • Chasing Blooming Flame knockback with a move that cannot reach.
  • Treating hyper armor as immunity to guardbreak, grab or every control effect.
  • Spending the whole Breathing bar before learning how to reset safely.

What still needs testing

Exact rarity odds, unlock costs, damage, burn duration, cooldowns, armor interactions and true combo windows require current in-game verification. The card supports the five move identities and their broad functions. It does not establish a tier placement.

Use Breathing Level when moves remain locked, Nichirin Katana for the weapon gate, and Combos for general confirmation practice.

Sources and confidence

The moveset is community reported from the SLAYER public Trello Flame Breathing card, last activity observed October 26, 2026. The wooden-blade restriction is corroborated by a dated public-test walkthrough. All numerical balance remains live-test territory.
